Join Temple Emanuel
Temple Emanuel is a warm, caring, and open community of approximately 150 households. As a small Reform synagogue, all of our members have the ability to know one another and the opportunity to have serious input into how our congregation operates. Temple Emanuel is a participatory, diverse, non-judgmental, and intellectually vibrant congregation.
While we can try to put this into words, it is best to experience Temple Emanuel for oneself, and we invite you to attend our Friday evening services and any other Temple events of interest to you. Please check out the calendar page for times and details.
Our spiritual leader is Rabbi Michael Farbman who has been providing rabbinic leadership to Temple Emanuel since 2009, you can read about our rabbi, as well as some of his articles on his page.
Temple Emanuel is strongly committed to life-long Jewish learning. In addition to K-9 Religious school, all age groups enjoy special family education programs throughout the year. We have a variety of educational programs for adults, from a weekly Saturday morning Torah portion study group, to the Basic Judaism class (including Hebrew for adults), annual scholar-in-residence program and many other opportunities throughout the year – please check the Religious School page for more info.
In addition, Temple Emanuel has an active Sisterhood which has put together varied and diverse programs that allow members to share ideas and contribute to the Temple, while learning, and having fun!
Our dues structure works on a “Fair Share” system. We ask that each member household honestly assess its ability to contribute financially to the synagogue’s well-being. However, we recognize that the ability of each and every family to pay synagogue dues and fees is unique, we have never refused membership to a family based on financial considerations, and we are pleased to be able to offer significant first year discounts to new families.
If any of us can answer any questions or be of any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact our membership committee firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also call the Temple office at 203-397-3000 and our office administrator will forward a message. We look forward to meeting you in the very near future!
