Shiru l’Adonai Shir Chadash, Sing unto God a new song…

If favorite books are like old friends, prayerbooks are like trusted and beloved family members. We turn to them in joy as well as in sorrow, in wonder and in confusion. While holding the prayerbook in our hands, we talk to God, it helps us find the right words when our own words fail us… It bears witness to the passage of time and to the major events in our lives. Temple Emanuel has its own prayerbook, Seder Tefilot Emanuel. This wonderful and warm book has inspired generations of TE members – and continues to do so! It began as… more
Hosting an Oneg

Uplifting prayers, thoughtful conversation, a bit of schmoozing topped off by a nosh! These contribute to making Shabbat at Temple Emanuel so special. Oneg Shabbat, Sabbath joy enhanced by refreshments after services, is a long-standing tradition at our congregation. Many thanks to those families who have helped to host an Oneg Shabbat. Each temple family is asked to host one or two Friday night Onegs during the year. This year’s calendar has provided us all with an incredible opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving and Chanukah with less than a week between… more
Intergenerational Chanukah program at TE a huge success
| December 7, 2010 - ל כסלו תשעא | Posted by P. Simon under Featured, Rabbi's page |
TE members of different ages came together to study, share food and help pack gifts to be delivered to a number of local agencies and families this holiday season. Here’s what the organizers had to say: “Thank you to everyone that made the Sunday Chanukah event so successful— To the community who donated toys, clothes and books, To the 20 or so adults who studied together and shared ideas with each other, To the 30 or so kids who came and created baskets (and offered a perfect b’racha before snack) To the religious school teachers who had the kids so… more
