Rosh Hashanah comes early this year! It seems like Elul has come and almost gone and before we know it, it’s time for Rosh Hashanah celebrations, for ushering in the new year, for apples and honey and joy, as well as introspection and taking stock of our lives that follows the Rosh Hashanah and precedes the Yom Kippur. Fundraising with Stop & Shop Cards

This year, let’s all get into a regular routine of using gift cards from the Temple for our grocery purchases before we go shopping. It would really help TE. The idea of the cards needs to become a habit rather than an afterthought. And it’s an easy habit to develop. The cards can be obtained through the Temple Office (203/397- 3000) or by email office@templeemanuel-gnh.org We normally sell the cards in $50 and $100 denominations, but they can also be purchased in $10, $20 and $25 amounts. Changes to Temple Emanuel

Hopefully you’ve noticed some changes taking place at Temple Emanuel this summer. Last month I wrote about the projects involving the base- ment of the TE House and the fire landings. As stated in last month’s Shofar, those projects were paid for out of our budget. In August, both the House and Sanctuary underwent a thorough cleaning. Vinyl floors, carpets, walls, and even ceilings have been thoroughly cleaned. The Sanctuary kitchen has likewise been cleaned, a process that even involved the moving of appliances so that all dirt could be reached. This extensive cleaning was done without the use of… more
